Charlotte Cohen, age 89, a 35 year resident of Oak Park passed away on January 9, 2013 at the Bridgeway Christian Village in Bensenville, IL.  Ms. Cohen was born in Chicago, IL on August 27, 1923 to the late Louis and Marie Flynn Cohen. She graduated from Austin High School and attended Wright College, both in Chicago. For over 10 years she drove a taxi cab in Chicago and most recently worked for 8 years as a parking attendant in Oak Park. A true community spirit, she regularly attended village board meetings and frequently wrote letters to the editor in the local papers. Charlotte loved animals and was member and supporter of numerous organizations dedicated to the care and protection of domestic and wild animals. A visitation will be held on Friday January 18, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Private interment will take place at Waldheim Cemetery in Forest Park. Donations in honor of Charlotte may be made to the Animal Care League of Oak Park, 1013 Garfield, Oak Park, IL 60304.
