Sutrina, Victoria

Victoria A. Sutrina nee Finley, age 61, longtime resident of Oak Park passed away at her home on December 8, 2011. She was born in Oak Park on July 11, 1950 to Edmund and Cora Lee Finley. She grew up in River Grove and was a graduate of River Grove Elementary and East Leyden High School. Vicki painted portraits for monuments at J.A. Dedouch Company of Oak Park from 1968-1971. A resident of Oak Park from 1971 to the present, Vicki started the first Thatcher Woods Area Scout Counsel Cub Scout Pack for special education children. For seventeen years Vicki and her family spent summers hosting children from Northern Ireland, and was the fund raising chair of the Northern Ireland Youth Program. She was a Te Kwon Do blue belt, avid swimmer and downhill skier, loved singing, gardening, cooking, animals and crafting. Vicki was a Brookfield Zoo volunteer and Docent for the past fifteen years and an active member of the Unique Bouquet of the Oak Park’s Women’s Exchange specializing in painted animals on rocks. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Don and her son Jim both of Oak Park, her parents Edmund and Cora Lee Finley of River Grove, and her brother Ed (Maryann) Finley of Indianapolis. A celebration of Victoria’s life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1213 W. Army Trail Blvd., Addison, IL 60101. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield, IL 60513 are appreciated.
