O’Malley, Margaret M.
Margaret Mary (Mag) O’Malley 82, died at home early Saturday morning July 7, 2012. Born April 26, 1930 to George and Margaret Broucek in Oak Park, Illinois. She attended Ascension Elementary, Trinity High School and graduated from Rosary College in River Forest.
She married Edward F. O’Malley in 1954. Eddie died in 1974 and Margaret raised their children, started a new career in accounting and retired as an executive at a financial services firm in Chicago in 1993. In retirement she volunteered for the Oak Park Conservancy and the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust.
Margaret loved to travel often taking her grandchildren along to share in her passion for discovery. She played bridge with her good friends and was an excellent cook with the rare exception; ask her children about the Chicken Luau.
An extraordinarily strong woman she finally succumbed to cancer after a four year battle. Margaret is survived by her 6 children, Michael, Kevin (Robin), Peg (Jeff) Kamibayashi, Tim, Sean (Ann), Kate (Dan) Branand; her grandchildren Kyle, Jack, Claire, Brian, Owen, Scottie, Sean-Paul and Daniel and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Beloved sister of George (Marge) Broucek Jeanne Klein, Barbara (Dave) Lesh and the late Richard.
Visitation will be held at Drechsler, Brown and Williams, 203 S Marion St., Oak Park from 3pm to 9 pm Wednesday July, 11. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am July 12, at St. Giles Catholic Church, in Oak Park.
